SERDANG, JUNE 3 – WAZAN has agreed to sponsor four students and a UPM staff to Canada for two weeks.
This sponsorship is part of the university's mobility program to provide exposure and experience to UPM citizens.
The program was branded as "The Ramadan Charity Visit with Sister Sabariah and the Sabria Foundation to Canada" was held on June 2, 2018 to June 12, 2018.
According to Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs), YBhg Prof. Roslan b. Sulaiman, another purpose of this program was to inspire and enhance the values of volunteers amongst students to advance from the leadership and sociological aspects of the outside world, as well as play an important role as an ambassador to promote the culture of Malaysian society.
Furthermore, the program aims to create a volunteer center and development of UPM asnaf.
In addition, this program can help people who are less fortunate in Montreal in line with UPM's motto is "With Knowledge We Serve".
Meanwhile, WAZAN's Director, YBhg Dr. Haji Razali b. Othman pointed out that the sources of financing were made using zakat funds.
Therefore, he requested that each selected participant use this opportunity as best as possible. "Find an experience, search for knowledge, spend two weeks exploring and learning from experts like Sister Sabariah. Back then can use that existing knowledge to develop our "soup kitchen" to help the poor student",he said. – WAZAN Online
